Congratulations to the Homestead Boys Swim Team for placing 15th overall at the 2018 Central Coast Section Championships.

Zach Birrer qualified for the Men’s 100 butterfly final in 7th position on Friday and moved up one place to earn a spot on the podium and a medal for 6th Place on Saturday. Zach swam a lifetime best of 51.17 to earn consideration for the California State Championship Meet. Congratulations Zach!

Atharv Patil, Alex Zeren, Roderick Sou, and Birrer moved up one spot on Friday to grab the 13th seed in the 200 Medley Relay on Saturday. They then moved up another spot in the Consolation Final to finish 13th overall with a season-best time of 1:38.72, narrowly missing the CA State Meet Consideration time.

Birrer, Raymond Lee, Brandon Hong, and Bryce Miner teamed up on Friday to take the 13th seed in the 200 Freestyle Relay. They stayed in 13th place during Finals on Saturday but swam an inspired race to achieve a State Meet Consideration time (and season-best) of 1:38.49. Outstanding!

Finally, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Miner, Hong, Patil, and Birrer swam their best race of the season and qualified for the event finals in 8th place! The boys couldn’t improve their 8th place finish but capped off a great day by dropping another full second to grab another CA State Meet Consideration time of 3:12.49. All three relays are among the fastest in school history!! Amazing!

The Mustangs will have to wait until Sunday May 13th to see whether their consideration times lead to an invitation to the State Championship on Friday and Saturday May 18th & 19th in Clovis. Good luck boys and congratulations on what is already a historically great 2018 season for Homestead Swimming!

Go Mustangs!!
